Fundraising Basket Raffle
We are all excited about the basket raffle. Branches have been busy choosing a theme, putting the basket together and deciding where the money should go.
There are 13 baskets all set to go
Examples: Old Fashion Garden, Grandma’s Goodies, Pamper your Pet, Best of the West
The drawings will be at or before the Banquet
Remember to put your name on your tickets
Proxy Raffle Tickets
We are encouraging folks to sell tickets in their branch and be the proxy. You might be able to bring a lovely basket home to a friend.
- Get cash or checks from your friends ($1 a ticket or 6 for $5)
- Ask them what kind of basket they would like or what fund they would like to support
- Come to convention and get the tickets for that person
- Write their name, branch and your name on the ticket
- Put it in the envelope of their choice
- Take home the basket to them!
8 people from Wilmington gave $57 that way, it really works!

LAF Change in focus
Just in case you have not seen this, here is an excerpt from the LAF Express. http://www.aauw.org/publications/lafExpress/upload/LAFNewsExpress13.pdf
“New Directions for LAF….Many members and others who look to AAUW for our leadership have urged us to extend our LAF Plaintiff support beyond academia to other workplace settings. ….LAF is expanding to include sex discrimination in all workplaces to reflect our commitment to that fair chance.”

Volunteers Needed
Nancy Shoemaker has mentioned that we need people to volunteer to work for the state organization. It is a very rewarding job. Millie Hoffler-Foushee needs our help and support. With the next convention in Wilmington, the state organization will need a new person to do the record keeping of fundraising. This person is the liaison between the Association and the state in regards to fundraising. The system acts as a check and balance system to make sure the money that we send to the association gets to the correct fund. If this is something that you would like more information about please contact Lill Van Order lillvo@earthlink.net It has been a very rewarding and fun time working with such capable women around the state. I will miss this part of the job but look forward to helping provide a wonderful experience for all of you at the state convention in 2009.
