Description:  Author, Margie Burns will read excerpts and discuss her book. The history of the phrase “pride and prejudice” before it became the title of Jane Austen’s most famous novel is largely forgotten today. In particular, most of the reading public is unaware that “pride and prejudice” was a traditional critique adopted by British and American antislavery writers.

The Science of Climate Change – Monday, February 24th, 7 pm – Via Zoom

Citizens Climate LobbyCitizens’ Climate Lobby (CCL) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, grassroots advocacy climate change organization focused on national policies to address the national and global climate crisis. Bill Blancato, a board member and long-time volunteer and advocate for CCL, will discuss the science behind climate change (it’s older than you thought), solutions, and how things look in Congress.

Bill BlancatoA little about Bill – he is an attorney specializing in mediation and arbitration services after an earlier career in litigation and corporate law. For more than ten years he has volunteered with Citizens’ Climate Lobby to build support for legislation that will reduce the greenhouse gas emissions which are causing climate change. Bill’s writings about climate change have appeared frequently in the Winston-Salem Journal. Additionally, he has participated in dozens of meetings about the issue with Congressional offices.
