Since 1881 the American Association of University Women (AAUW) has been the nation’s leading voice promoting education and equity for women and girls. Through landmark research, it has changed conversations about girls in schools. Its advocacy policy has worked to inform and mobilize members on many issues affecting the lives of women and girls. AAUW North Carolina is the organization that brings the work of the association home to our communities and you are invited to be part of our state effort.

In principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation in our organization on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or class.

Join or Renew Your Membership

Find your community on the NC list of branches.  Click on the ‘View Details’ link for the branch of interest.  The initial branch page will display the branch President name and often a website link.  This will give you branch contact names and emails to learn more about the branch.  The page, in many cases, also includes a “Join Button” that will direct you to the AAUW National membership application (called Community Hub) that will let you join on the spot, paying dues online at aauw.org.

Member Online Joins & Renewals

Renewing your AAUW membership?

Members can renew their national, state and branch membership online at the national site:  https://my.aauw.org/NC__Login.  This is the login page for the AAUW membership application called the Community Hub.

Branch members that joined before 2022 had membership renewal cycles using the AAUW fiscal year calendar (July to June); expiration dates were on June 30th each year and are still used.  During 2022 AAUW adopted a new annual membership date cycle based on the new members initial Join date.

Each year, members will receive an email from AAUW beginning up to 3 months prior to the membership expiration date each year, reminding you to renew your membership.  You will need your email address and password to do this online.  If you have not set up your personal profile in the AAUW Community Hub, you will need to first click on Forgot Your Password link; the application will send you a temporary password that you can change to your own password.

Some branches in North Carolina have not yet elected to do online renewals. In that case, your branch Membership Chair will send you a renewal notice and you will send a check to the branch Treasurer for all your annual dues. (Branch, state and national dues will be combined.)  Watch you inbox for the renewal reminder from your branch with details on how to proceed.

One important exception to renewing directly with branches by check rather than online.  If a member wants to have an membership affiliation with multiple states and/or branches, the member should use the online membership renewal process associated with the AAUW Community Hub.  This will allow all of the member’s renewals to be completed with a single transaction.
