TODO list to better support the branches
Main branch pages
- Branches menu – where should clicking the top Branches take you?
- Map
- What should the introductory text for the page say? (Only Tech Triad can edit that)
- What should the pop up when you click a balloon include?
- Branch Contacts
- We can edit the intro message here
- This does include president and mvp and a link to a “more details” page (see #3 below)
- Should dues be here? Website link?
What information on the branches should be included
- Key officers
- Email and phone contacts
- Website address (other options?)
- Amount of local dues
- A sentence or two about the branch?
- See policy document (pg 13) that talks about exposing contact info for branch officers
- What about “type” — community-based/virtual, small/medium/large, 501c3/501c4, east/west/central –or should that be hidden?
- Do we need the ability to change all this data and add new branches? (At the moment it appears we can change the president’s name, but not all of the other data pieces).
Detailed views – what should be on these?
- Map popup after clicking the balloon for a branch?
- Detailed popup after clicking the “View Details” button on #1
- Now has president and MVP as well as (unexplained) dues.
- Detailed page after clicking the branch name link on #1 or the branch name on the Branch Contacts page
- The address needs to be taken off this page since — it is just used to locate the branch balloon on the map
- Is the map popup needed here (it opens by default)?
- The “View Details” button on the left and the two links in the map popup just seem to go back to this page. Can they be deleted?
- Why isn’t the officer info (e.g. the info from #2) on this page
- Could we add a “join” link that would mirror the one on aauw.org for the branches that belong to the MPP?
Branch News
- Do any of the branches have website pages where they post their newsletters — is there a way to post branch news in branch order?
- If not or in addition, we could put the “branch news” newsletters into a MailChimp folder and then link to that from the website.
Forms
These were a failed experiment from a couple of years ago. Should they be on the site? What would we do with the data?
- Scholarships (amount, how to apply, etc.)
- Named gift honorees
- Branch projects
Other
- There’s a TablePress table that looks like it came from the old site, but it’s a different shortcode that displays the contact info for the branches, so it looks like the data for Branch Contacts is coming from the custom post type and the TablePress table could be deleted. How dangerous would it be for one of us to (tediously) update the contact info in the custom post type?
- Tar Heel should probably be mapped as somewhere in the northeast — say “24 King St, Halifax, NC 27839”. But, again, annotated to say that it’s a state-wide/virtual branch. The address is stored somewhere only TechTriad can change. [Ticket #57]
Done
- On the Branch Contacts page, the branches should be listed alphabetically. (Done 5/29 – jiggered the “publish” date)
- On the map, Nancy hid the meaningless address with a line of custom CSS. Is that okay? (Yes, with recommendation to move from Appearance > Customize > Custom CSS to Theme Options (on the admin bar, not the left hand menu) > Advanced > Custom CSS. Done 5/31. Ticket #55]
- The “type” of organizations uses the word Chapter. It should be changed to branch. (Done 5/29.)
- On some of the branches, clicking their balloon lists the branch as, e.g. “Cape Fear/null”. On others, it says “Asheville/AAUW NC Branch”. The “null” branches could be corrected with Edit/Update — Quick Edit, select Type, Update doesn’t work and a bug has been reported (5/29). [Fixed 5/30.Ticket #55 — used Edit/Update for all the branches.]
- The C in ODC is Chatham, not Chapel Hill, i.e. Orange/Durham/Chatham (though it meets in Chapel Hill) (Fixed 5/29)
